Options for Hand Rejuvenation
It’s no surprise that your hands take a beating throughout your life. Cold weather, summer sun and other factors can cause your hands to age quickly because of exposure to the elements. Dry skin, sun damage and volume loss can all cause a more aged appearance in your extremities, but Imagen offers the most advanced treatments available for reversing these effects. The needs of each patient are different, so we encourage you to schedule a complimentary consultation during which we can develop a customized treatment plan. Here are the latest treatments for the causes of aging hands.
Rough and dry hands
Microdermabrasion is an affordable treatment with minimal discomfort and immediate results for improving the texture and appearance of your hands. With microdermabrasion we are able to actually remove the top layer of dead, dry skin through gentle abrasion and exfoliation. This treatment is also used to minimize the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, giving your skin a fresh, youthful appearance. Our clients report minimal-to-no discomfort and some have even described their treatment as relaxing.
Sun damage, scars, discoloration
Intense Pulse Light (IPL), also known as a photofacial, when combined with microdermabrasion actually strengthens the restorative effects of the light treatments in addressing scars, visible veins and sun damage such as age spots and other discolorations. IPL also promotes the production of collagen, creating smoother-looking, tighter skin. While some IPL patients have reported mild discomfort (similar to being snapped with a rubber band) any associated side effects are very temporary and do not effect results.
Volume Loss
As we age, most of us experience a loss of supporting fatty tissues throughout the body. In the hands this appears as volume loss, which increases the visibility of bones, veins and tendons in the hands. This can make hands have a more aged appearance. Fillers such as PRP, Fat Transfers and Juvéderm Ultra Plus can restore this lost volume and immediately revive your hands’ appearance. To provide for the maximum amount of comfort, very small needles are used in applying fillers and most fillers include a numbing medicine, which further increases comfort. Minor side effects associated with any filler include temporary bruising or swelling.
“Dehydrated” Hands
Poor hydration in the skin is often a significant factor in the appearance of accelerated aging of our hands. So we recommend maintaining the results of your hand rejuvenation with hydrating creams that exfoliate, rejuvenate and hydrate the skin.
