Warm weather is finally near and summer wardrobes are coming out! That means more short sleeves and tank tops. For many of us, shedding the long sleeves is a source of anxiety as we show off arms that might not be as toned as we would like. In honor of the spring season, we wanted to do a blog to talk about how you can rock a tank top!
General weight loss is almost always a good way to improve how you look, but when you’re talking about your arms it can leave you with loose skin…the dreaded “bingo wings.” If you are looking to improve your arms through weight loss, make sure you pair it with strength training to help tone your arms. This will decrease the jiggle in your upper arms. We spoke with our personal trainer, Andrea Hansen, about her favorite exercises for toning the upper arms. Andrea says “when you’re trying to tone the upper arm, you get the most bang for your buck by toning the triceps muscles.” Her favorite exercises for this area are Skull Crushers, Cable Tricep Extension and Tricep Dips off of a bench. You can find videos of these exercises on Andrea’s Blog.
If you have been doing all the right things with diet and exercise and still do not feel comfortable wearing spaghetti straps, then it may be time to speak with a cosmetic surgeon about the options to improve your arms.
CoolSculpting is a great option for patients who do not have any issues with skin laxity. It can get you a nice reduction in volume with just an hour treatment on each side. Many of our patients opt for multiple treatments to get their desired result, but once you get your desired result, it is permanent fat reduction. With no down time and no surgery, CoolSculpting is a great option for those who do not want to have a more invasive procedure.
SmartLipo is a minimally invasive, laser liposuction procedure that can help reduce volume and tighten skin. We generally recommend this procedure for any patients concerned with skin laxity but who want to avoid the big scar and down time that can come with a traditional arm lift. Most of our SmartLipo patients are back to work in just 2 to 3 days and scars are minimal.
The best results will come from a combination of these therapies. General weight loss and toning through exercise will optimize the results obtained through a cosmetic procedure. If you want more information about these procedures or others that we offer, we would love to see you in a complimentary consultation.
