They’ve been called male breasts, man boobs or moobs. Whatever name you want to give them, men don’t like them and neither do women.
A muscular and well-defined chest is one of the most appealing characteristics of the male body.
Extensive hours of resistance training and weight lifting are devoted to enhancing and sculpting the chest, but genetics, hormonal changes and drugs (such as prescription medications or marijuana) can result in a more protruding, rounded, feminine appearance known as gynecomastia. The male chest, like the female breast, contains glandular tissue. When this glandular tissue gets bigger (hypertrophy) or if there is more than normal, the male chest begins to look more like a female breast. There are two main medical terms that refer to the enlargement of the male chest. Gynecomastia is when there is an increase in the glandular tissue and Pseudo-gynecomastia is when the enlargement is due to fat deposits. Certain medical conditions, such as breast cancer, can also lead to enlargement of the male breast and therefore gynecomastia should be evaluated by a doctor.
Gynecomastia surgery can be performed for cosmetic purposes to reduce the size and feminization of the male chest.
Different surgeons perform gynecomastia surgery in different ways. Liposuction is a good choice to reduce fat deposits of pseudo-gynecomastia. This can be accomplished with traditional tumescent liposuction, laser-assisted liposuction (such SmartLipo Triplex) or ultrasound-assisted liposuction (such as Vaser.) Glandular excision removes some of the glandular tissue in gynecomastia, providing a more flat look to the chest. 4D Hi-Definition Liposculpting not only reduces the fat and glandular tissue but also combines a patented technique to achieve a muscular and defined appearance.
At Imagen Body Sculpting and Cosmetic Center we combine the best technology with our expertise to achieve the best possible results. Depending on the patient’s individual needs, we will use a combination of these techniques. For those patients looking for a sculpted, chiseled chest 4D Hi-Definition Liposculpting is available.
