I can’t tell you how many people we see who do their best to hide the fact that they sweat…ALL THE TIME. I have met men and women who wear sweatshirts in the summer, limit their wardrobe to loose clothing that won’t soak as quickly, buy only dark colored shirts…all so that it’s not obvious that they’re sweating, even though it’s cool. There are multiple treatments available for axillary hyperhidrosis. Topical deodorants/antiperspirants can help some people, but many of our patients tell us that these treatments don’t work well or stop working after a while. Botox injections need to be repeated every 3-4 months to keep you dry. Each treatment consists of multiple injections in a very sensitive area. Botox injections are also an expensive solution long term. A year of Botox injections for hyperhidrosis can run upwards of $4000. Some insurance providers will pay for this treatment; however, you’re still stuck getting injections every 3-4 months.

Triplex Treatment for Hyperhidrosis is generally a one-time treatment (about 10% of patients will need a second treatment to get full resolution of their sweating). The procedure is done under local anesthesia in our relaxing office. Two to four tiny incisions are made and then the area is numbed with fluid. A laser is then passed under the skin the treat the overactive sweat glands. The entire procedure takes about an hour. Patients generally notice right away that they are no longer sweating. Sometimes the sweat glands become active again a couple of months after the procedure, but sweating generally stops for good shortly after that. You can see results from some of our patients here.
One of my favorite stories from our patients was a young woman who was so excited to be able to wear a tank top at a concert, raise her arms and cheer and not worry about whether or not she was sweating through! Many people have sweating triggered by stress, which is made worse by worrying about sweating…This can end up being a vicious cycle. Break the cycle with Triplex Treatment for Hyperhidrosis!
